Cornelius held his head on the steering wheel. He had such a headache, but he didn’t want to tell his bandmates. His stomach kept churning, and he could feel his body get heavier. He hated being a bother to Static and Harvey. They both got in the van and we’re about to head to practice. Harvey could tell something was off. Static could too. It was the CD player. Cornelius always had music playing. “Are you ok?” Harvey looks over and sees Cornelius avoiding his eyes. His headache was pounding, and all Cornelius wanted to do was rub his eyes. He just turned and gave a thumbs up and then drove to the studio.
Before they unpacked the van, Static asked Cornelius if he was ok. Cornelius kissed his hands and opened the driver’s door and stumbled out. He didn’t just lose his balance, there was a whole shuffle that occurred and it ended with Cornelius falling over and not able to get up. When he cracks his eyes open and he could see the dirt right at his eye level. He also couldn’t hear much. His head was pounding so hard all he heard was the blood rushing. Static and Harvey were shaking him. Static ends up throwing Cornelius on his back and putting him back in the van. “Here Harvey, can you drive us to my house?” Cornelius lays in the back with Static. His head is pounding so hard but at least it was in Static’s lap which brought him comfort. There’s a moment where he feels Static’s hand on his cheek and holding close to it.
When they get to the house Static lays him in his bed. Harvey locks up and lays on the couch. Cornelius wakes up again to Static trying to give him pills. “I’m ok. I. I don’t need these. We need to practice our show in 2 days.” Static answers, “There won’t be if you don’t get better, take the pills.” Cornelius keeps pushing his hand away and Static quickly does a stunt. He grabs Cornelius and shoves the pills into his mouth, gives him water then holds his mouth shut with a kiss. Cornelius tries to spit out but static holds the kiss and covers his nose. Forced to swallow, Cornelius starts to suddenly feel the medicines' effect and passes out.
When he wakes up Static is next to him on the bed. He feels extremely hot and tries to sit up, but the world is spinning. He tries to block out the feeling and ends up losing consciousness again. He wakes up at the hospital waiting room with Harvey and Static. The spinning feeling still hadn’t gone down. He lays on Static while Harvey is up again talking to the nurse. Static pets Cornelius hair while they wait. He falls back to sleep.
He wakes up and Static is carrying him on his back to the nurses station so they can get his vitals. Cornelius closes his eyes from how bright everything is. He feels the nurse stick something in his ear and reads off a number. Next she takes his weight and height. Last his blood pressure and then he’s able to be in a room. Cornelius room isn’t like typical hospital rooms. It’s just a few chairs and no bed so he feels relieved that there’s no IV. Another wave of dizziness hits him and he asks if Static could hold his hand. Static sits near Cornelius while they wait for the doctor to come in. Harvey is looking through all the magazines and stuff that’s around. The doctor comes in and begins to analyze Cornelius. “Well according to his charts he’s got a fever of 103, let’s look closer.”
Cornelius feels the stethoscope on his back and the chill wakes him up a bit. “Ok now breathe in and out.” Cornelius breathes, but then his chest tightens to a cough and he tries to hold back. He bends his elbow and coughs hard into it. “Sorry,” his voice peaks out. While the doctor is still examining, Cornelius feels his body get heavy and his vision get spotty, and he tries to stay awake but passes out. Doctor checks his temperature and it’s now at 105. They move Cornelius to a different room with an IV drip filled with a fever reducer. He wakes up within the hour in bed. Static and Harvey are by his side. He can’t believe what his bandmates had to go through in order for him to be at the hospital.
Cornelius is told to keep a strict diet and he gets better over the course of the week.
